Local
Community Focused
From our humble beginnings as a single blacksmith shop established in 1906 in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, Ahrens has grown over the hundred-plus years that have followed due to the strong support of the local community. The Ahrens family has remained grateful for this support ever since and is committed to having a positive and meaningful impact on the communities in which we operate.
Ahrens supports community events, grass-roots sporting groups and local causes through sponsorship, donations and in-kind contributions. Our employees also enthusiastically and actively participate in monthly fundraisers.
Regional Communities
With approximately 90% of our workforce based outside of capital cities, we are committed to supporting regional and remote communities. Our employees and their families have developed strong networks in regional areas, through their school, social and sporting affiliations. Supporting the communities in which we work extends to project work and we regularly donate structural steel or work in kind on construction projects in support of worthy causes. In this way, we have supported Ronald McDonald House, Barossa Enterprises and the Salvation Army and many other organisations that improve the lives of people in need.
Employee Donation Scheme
We actively encourage our employees to support their local communities through our annual Employee Donation Scheme. Under this giving program, all employees are invited to nominate charities or community organisations that they are passionate about. Other employees then vote for the charity they most wish to support and a donation is made on their behalf.
