Grain Silos

Ahrens has been Australia’s leading manufacturer and supplier of rural infrastructure for over 120 years, and continue to manufacture high-quality assets for a range of applications.

Our grain silos, grain bins and field bins all come with a five-year warranty, are gas lock sealed, and are made in Australia for Australian conditions.

At Ahrens, we have a range of large transportable silos, flat bottom silos and field bins available to store your grain, meaning we can provide products that are flexible and meet your requirements, regardless of the application.

Manufactured in our Australian factories and delivered ready to be put to work on farms all across the nation, Ahrens silos play a vital support role in Australia’s agricultural industry.

Our range of quality grain bins, transportable silos and field bins have given Ahrens rural a reputation as a market leader for more than 50 years, and our products continue to be Australian-made for Australian conditions.

Ahrens began in South Australia, a state where wheat is the Number 1 export, and where other grains and seeds such as barley and canola, as well as the alcoholic beverages made from these products make up significant portions of the state’s economic infrastructure.

Our years of experience in rural infrastructure means we understand how important it is to correctly store grains, seeds, legumes and pulses in the unpredictable Australian climate, and how important it is to receive helpful, friendly and local service from an Australian-owned and operated company.

Reliable Storage of Australian Grains

In Australia, grain silos are used to process and store a range of crops and grains, including but not limited to:

  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Rye
  • Soybeans
  • Barley
  • Lentils
  • Triticale
  • Rice
  • Sorghum
  • Chickpeas
  • Lupins
  • Beans
  • Canola
  • Oats
  • Sunflowers
  • Field Peas

Australia is in the Top 10 countries in the world for both wheat and barley production, and they both sit in the Top Ten for agricultural exports. As such, quality wheat silos have become not just an important but crucial part of the nation’s rural infrastructure.

Australia is also among the world’s leading producers of sorghum, canola, lentils, chickpeas and oats, and is the world’s Number 1 producer of lupins.

In addition to these more commonly grown Australian grains, seeds and legumes, silos are also the best form of off-season grain storage for flax and flaxseed, millet, quinoa, couscous, buckwheat and alfalfa.

Transportable Grain Silos

Ahrens transportable grain silos – sometimes referred to as grain bins – are available in a range of sizes from 55 tonnes to 126 tonnes, with cone options to suit your applications, and are delivered fully assembled and ready for immediate use.

These transportable grain systems are flexible and can be designed as one individual silo or as complete grain storage systems, depending on your specific needs for capacity, size and the number of required silos.

Ahrens Rural transportable silos are gas sealed in accordance with AS 2628-2010, which is the recommended standard for long-term storage of grain. Gas seal protects your stored product by ensuring that controlled fumigation of insects and pests can be achieved, as well as preventing any moisture or contaminants from entering the silo.

Fumigation System

Silo fumigation is a cost-effective way of treating large amounts of grain at one time, and is a viable alternative to shipping or container fumigation. This can be performed with a pellet or sheet, and you should contact an expert before fumigating your grain bins.

Field Bins and grain bins

Ahrens Rural Field Bins

Ahrens Field Bins are designed to be more convenient and portable than the larger transportable silos, with our grain bins available in a range of sizes from 31 tonnes to 37 tonnes, and manufactured in either a Zincalume® or Colorbond® steel finish.

Both the gravity and PTO field bins boast the flexibility of being able to position the bins where needed and are able to be operated by a single person, and the PTO field bins do this with the aide of internal augers.

Field Bins are designed for short-term grain storage, and come with a range of quality-of-life features to make them as easy as possible to operate, while still providing a top-of-the-range experience.
