Rural Seed Silos

It is important to keep your rural product protected from the weather, pests and other on-farm hazards that may spoil or contaminate any stored grain or pellet-based feed supplies.

Seed and feed silos – or simply seed silos – are a rural storage facility used on farms to store animal feed in the form of grains and silage, and their purpose is to provide a safe and secure vessel to store these important farming resources until they are required.

These silos are typically smaller in capacity than other types of grain silos, and are designed for filling feed bags, buckets or grain carts, with ease of delivery and site access in mind.

These silos are vital in protecting seed such as hay, barley, wheat, sorghum or lupins from moisture, pests and other elements that may damage or spoil them, while keeping them in a convenient and accessible place for easy access when feeding livestock.

Silos to protect your farm’s assets

In order to maintain the nutrients and prevent contamination, it is important to store the seed at the optimal temperature, and with sealed and non-sealed options for these silos, the storage of your feed and seed is within your control.

Storing seeds, pellets and other animal feed in silos is a great way to protect them from the elements and help prevent spoilage, ensuring that your feed remains fresh and nutritious for your animals, and preventing any unwanted costs associated with replacing animal feed.

As well as protecting valuable product on your farm, feed silos can help farmers to manage their inventory, and ensure that they have enough resources to meet the requirements of their livestock.

All Ahrens Rural silo products are made using Australian-Made Zincalume® or Colorbond® steel in the walls and roof panels, and these greatly assist with the strength and longevity of the product, as well as helping with temperature control and corrosion prevention.
